Brian wins...big time

How could this be possible? I move from Austin back to Virginia...and THEN my friend Brian looks into the woods and finds this! Brian's name is Brian falls for starters, if that isnt cool enough maybe the fact that he is a legit Dr. works at a hospital and rides bmx is? Brian was my number 1 bmx buddy in austin we found the pool above together also. But alas, without me hes still finding great spots in austin. good job, this is what he said about the the bobsled.

"One day I was driving by some woods on a hill and I looked into the woods and saw what looked like an old concrete water slide. And so a few days later I went back and checked it out... guess what?!??? It was a totally rad concrete waterslide bobsled ride down a huge hill. It looked like it had been abandoned since the 1960s and had tons of graffiti covering it. It was the perfect snake run... soooo fast and soooooo much fun to ride. I wish you coulda been there. Some cool stuff about the water slide I forgot to mention was... 1) it had a PERFECT concrete berm, tight turn, everything!!!! 2) at the end, where the slides (there were 2 of them side by side) empty, there was a pool!!!! but it was full of water and leaves and crap!!! it has a perfect tranny, but would take HOURS to drain out with buckets... oh man i wish you coulda been there, then we could have drained it together."

rusters 35mm

So heres the deal with developing film and printing it yourself. it takes forever, its fun but looks whack once you scan it. I was walking through the woods and found this car...stuck between some trees in the middle of no where. I like to think that it was a deleted scene from dazed and confused- a couple drove from Texas all the way to Virginia in one night and ended up in the woods, leaving the car behind. Self portraits are lame ok, you got me, but I had to test that feature out on the camera and was into the results. Ive got tons of prints coming up. If you shoot black and white film come up here and develop with me, itd be fun. Kodak tmax 100, cannon FT-1 (ancient) 60mm lens, wide angle lens, portrait lens used on car. Photo shop used to crop.

MEXICO!

So if you know me, you know squirrels are one of my favorite animals EVER, so getting to feed them like this was terrific! I had 3 cameras stolen from me in Acapulco as did Katy, quite a disappointment. So about 5 rolls of film will never be seen. But here are some fun times and good food from Mexico! I guess I should mention new years is a family holiday in Mexico and we got invited to a family gathering which was unreal. At midnight everyone eats 12 grapes and makes wishes for each grape, pretty neat. OH and salsa dancing with women wearing watermelon hats...cant beat that!

Its true

"the bowl is done?" "done." Its true now. Before it was this thing talked about that sounded similar to the truth behind drinking a few margaritas then chugging a Joose. You're going to get sick but you dont want to believe it while youre busy wrestling your best friends dog. Im not gonna lie about this, Im pretty devastated right now and almost feel its appropriate to have one of those father son talks with my dad. Maybe im being a girl here but to me that was the last place I could find some peace, still be a "kid" and love skateboarding like I did when I was younger. I hate skate parks (I love that they exist but I hate skating them) I dont like mini ramps...I like pools and bowls. Skating street now hurts my pussy body and I dont think Im wrong to say pools dont come around every day. Enough of the lame stuff, lets get to the point. I miss knowing that this is a place I can skate with my friends. Thats it. BEING WITH MY FRIENDS. First off Steve was gracious enough to build the thing then let me show up with 5 surfer kids that skate pretty often. No big deal. Bmxers, skaters, surfers all these kids. Punks, metal kids, photographers, dogs, alcoholics, pot smokers, the hessians. If you were in that garage you were living life as far as Im concerned and you were just as cool with the weird dude in the corner wearing some spiked jacket and makeup as you were your best friend. Good memories, Good times RIP POS BOWL. photo: howard tarpey

Pizza 35mm

CSB surf trip to florida 2006. Ronnie Drew and I found the biggest pizza on the planet and surfed the most shark infested spot in the world, new smyrna. Research it, most shark bites per year worldwide. Anyway one of the best times of my life, we even got to drive my van on the beach!

what is bmx? 35mm

The first picture is of my friend Travis, he isnt a "bmx" rider or anything. But, to me this is my favorite picture Ive ever taken of riding because it is what it is to me. He's on a 1" GT interceptor or something having a blast. No clue what is cool, what isnt cool, whos cool, who isnt cool. no clue just doing something that is fun and distracts his mind from anything depressing. hes riding a freaking chrome bike in the woods on some dirt some kids dug up. I love it.

Dress up and skate day 2000?

good memories. bad memory, I broke my left ankle for the third time on that deck a little while later.

snowburr 35mm

Someone awesome took food coloring and poured it on some ice a few years ago. I really liked it, infact next time I see some ice Im gonna do the same. 15 degrees. not much bmx around these parts maybe because Im a twat but heres some fresh pictures from a while back.

I know its january, and Im not even in america right now but this will happen. Its warmer outside and me and the guys up at radford will be digging our asses off so finally all you dudes can come up and shred with us. we'll have a sweet fire and a cookout and just bro down. I know we talked about a trail jam this fall but, the weather turned too quick and we only had a little more then a 6 pack at that time. We got all spring and summer to make things insane up there. VA is doing well. I miss you guys and bmx. I feel way out of it right now it sucks! but that just happens sometimes. also I got 2 new cameras for free from my old science teacher! ill post pics again once i get back to america.

robado!- stolen!

Just a quick one, but I didn't really tell anyone I was going to mexico for my christmas break and well Im here. Its been crazy and good at the same time. But as you know if you check this I love photography and well of course I was trying to document a ton of mexico. I brought 3 cameras down with me and was going through film like crazy. I met some RAD drug dealers on the beach that surfed and hung with them for a few hours. They let me shoot a ton of pictures of them while we spoke broken spanish and english together. They showed me their jailhouse tattoos and were telling me jokes about tampons. It was the BEST. Unfortunately in Acapulco my wallet, and 3 cameras were stolen from me out of the rental car. Im going to try and get another camera while Im here so I can have something at least. Having film ruined or it getting stolen is terrible. My biggest piss factor with this situation is that these were just old 35mm cameras. The dude who took them was probably pissed too, he cant get much for them. So we both lost.

skate-ing

It just hits me sometimes. really hard. My legs get this twitch and I suddenly feel like Im sitting on my couch again in 7th grade doing homework as fast as possible just so I can go skate till it gets dark. I miss those days like crazy, especially when Im busy and can feel myself slipping into this pseudo bullshit adult schedule when theres hardly time to eat, let alone do the things you love. I tell myself all the time, "never let THAT happen"...but sometimes it happens for a period of time and I just take it. The good thing is, and I plan on doing this when im 80 years old, is when things turn to shit I can always day dream of the days I got to spend with friends skating in the street, riding bikes in the woods, and surfing... all those times keep me alright.

If youre into skating and dig photography or maybe want to see a zine thats been around since the 90s that went bigger time check out concussion skateboarding. Itd be worth your time. They work hard and do things the right way.

Ice cold 35mm

2006 oldies

thrashmore kitts ames bikes swappin me balls christian steve d steve b matt v

vaseline

2006...when balls really was 16...I think. Most of that stuff on the wall is from 1993 or something from my sisters friends...its kinda ridiculous if you can read it.

For Josh

Josh ALWAYS had the nicest bikes...it was kind of one of those things people said, "its nice but its not like josh's." Well one day Josh decided to get a cruiser and he bought this thing. A ROSS cruiser that faded from red to purple to blue and the bike kinda just sucked. Dont get me wrong a bike is a bike and I dont really care about this kind of stuff but Josh having a shitty bike was something everyone enjoyed. He eventually cracked it at kitts house, seen above in these shitty pictures but I promised him Id dig them out to scan.

best day of 2006

By far the best day I ever had back at ames or the office. Steve and Jeff showed up on this tiny fiberglass boat. Notice Jeff paddled with a shovel, Steve sitting on a cooler of BEER. Everyone was there, it was one of those late fall days when the temperature is just AIR. perfect. We drank laughed and rode till about dark then Josh nowel, Baita, Jeff and I decided to paddle the boat all the way back down the lynnhaven river to our houses. This boat was no longer then 6 feet long and puny. With all 4 of us in it with shovels as oars and 18 beers or so we floated just an inch above the water. It took us at least 3 hours to get back. All of us absolutely wasted decided to pull up to "the dock" behind matt and john conaways house to ask their parents for more beer because to anyone who knows the conaways...knows they always ALWAYS have coors light. Sure enough they did, we stopped and drank some beers with Sharron and Ed and that was that. You dont have to do tailwhips or have the sickest bike out to enjoy bmx all you really need to do is just hangout and it rules!
